This is one of the weirdest, but better Michelle movies.
It's not as good as American Girl, but it's definitely not as bad as The Road Killers or Kalifornia.
This movie is about the pretty blond waitress, Rinda Woolley (Michelle), who gets caught by Hallie Schrag, while having sex with her husband.
Hallie points out a gun and threatens to shoot the both of them. Michelle just casually walks away, saying she didn't know he was married, and that Hallie should shoot her husband.
When Michelle starts her car, she is once again approached by Hallie, who needs a ride to the middle of nowhere.
Michelle decides to take her to where she wants, under the condition that she will pay for gas.
At this point in the movie, every possible cliché will happen. The car breaks down, they are out of money, and the two of them notice it's the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
They decide to ask the help of a hitchhiker, to get the car going again and in turn they give him a lift.
The hitchhiker, credited as Hitchhiker Dodge, carries a large brown suitcase with him and does not want to say what's in it.
To top it all off, a cop arrives to the scene and he's looking for a Hitchhiker who appears to have stolen 2 million dollars during an armed robbery.
The Hitchhiker and Hallie are attracted to each other. Michelle decides it's time for her to leave, and let the two fresh lovers alone.
She gives Hallie the advise to stay with the Hitchhiker, because she thinks he's honest and righteous and she thinks that's rare in a man.
Michelle turns her car around, and heads back to the nearest gas station, 300 miles away.
Because the car in which she drives, is not the kind that blends in with the rest, she gets caught op with the Cop.
The Cop, whose brilliantly played by J.T. Walsh, tracked down a fresh bank-note, used to pay for gas in a local gas station. The note was one of the many stolen in the robbery.
He got the description of the Station Attendant of Michelle, a pretty tall blond, and her car, a red convertible.
So, once he found the car, it was easy to find Michelle, sitting alone in a bar. Once he confronts her with the bank note, Michelle also suspects the Hitchhiker of foul play, and suddenly realizes she left Hallie alone with him.
She decides to take the Cop to the locations where she left the Hitchhiker and Hallie, in change for the 10.000 dollar reward.
When you thought you had planned this movie out, figured every possible
plot twist and ending, the movie will kick you in the balls by taking a
drastic unsuspected U-turn.
It's such a major, but very plausible twist, that it really lifts the
movie above every other road-trip-thriller.
The characters are really natural and well build, they are honest,
respectful and smart, what makes that every situation they end up in,
gets solved correctly and realistic.
Also, the characters are acting the way you think.
This movie is a pretty good Michelle movie, with a good plot and decent acting. Some actors you will recognize from other movies, though they are the ones of whom you never remember their names.
I tried to write this review with as few spoilers possible, and if you think this has spoiled too much for you, you're in for a pleasant surprise.
A must see for every Michelle fan, if it's only for this scene:
